A delicious lunch overlooking the river is next on your agenda before venturing off into the bush for a mid-afternoon game drive. Known as a wildlife-rich reserve, there is no shortage of exciting sightings, including safari heavy hitters, the Big 5.
Embark on enlightening journeys of exploration with morning and afternoon activities accompanied by knowledgeable guides. The standard rhythm of the day involves an early game drive and, if you’re willing, an opportunity to try their electric, carbon-neutral vehicle. Typically, guests are given an early wake-up call with tea or coffee and invited to breakfast before their morning out. However, there is always the option to head out early with a delicious picnic-style breakfast to be enjoyed on the road.
Afternoon tea is the perfect time to refuel for the late afternoon game drive, complete with sundowners. Upon your return, enjoy a relaxed dinner and lounge by the fire or retire to your room and listen out for lions calling to each other.
While game drives are the bread and butter of any safari experience, Ol Pejeta Bush Camp also offers excursions to see endangered species, Africa’s modern-day dinosaurs, rhinos. Horseback safaris are also available and offer a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as does a visit to the Canine Anti-Poaching Unit visit to meet the bloodhounds sworn to protect their marks. For those who wish to get up close and personal with big cats, venture out for some exhilarating lion tracking. Finally, for fitness fanatics and those seeking an extra adventure, head out with the Ol Pejeta Conservancy rangers for their morning run and coffee.
Day 5 to 8: Head to the crown jewel of Kenya's wildlife
After a final breakfast at Ol Pejeta Bush Camp, a transfer will take you back to the airstrip for a short flight to the Masai Mara. Touch down in the heart of the reserve and meet your guide from Rekero Camp for an introductory game drive on the way to your new accommodation.
Once settled in your tent, a relaxed lunch will settle you into the rhythm of the Masai Mara. Dinners are a communal affair and offer the perfect opportunity to share stories and relive each magical moment of the day.
