Day 1: Fly to Lewa Conservancy

After you have been met and transferred from your hotel/residence, your first safari flight from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport flanks Kenya’s central highlands and lands at Lewa, on the slopes of Mount Kenya. You’ll be met here by a driver and then travel north for about an hour through part of Kenya’s beef and cereal country to Lewa Conservancy on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro.

Your expected arrival time is around mid-day. Head to your luxury safari camp for check-in and lunch. Get some rest then we head to Lewa Conservancy for an afternoon game viewing with your assigned driver-guide. This offers you some highlights of what to expect at Lewa. In the evening, we head back to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 & 3: Wildlife encounters at Lewa Conservancy with picnic lunch at the park

You will have 2 complete further days, to explore the ranch on foot with a guide or in a vehicle – usually having the area largely to yourself – with most of East Africa’s plains wildlife present in good numbers. Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is situated within a 62,000-acre ranch and wildlife sanctuary. It has been home to the Craig family since 1924 who by initially setting aside 5000 acres of their ranch in 1983, were instrumental in setting up a sanctuary to protect black rhinos. Fortunately, this was so successful that in 1995 they dedicated their entire ranch to conservation and it now homes over 10% of Kenya’s entire black rhino population and 14% of their white rhino population, making it the perfect choice for your next safari if you want to catch the big 5, namely rhinos, lions, leopards, elephants and buffalo all of which make their home at Lewa.

Day 4: Flying to the Maasai Mara

After breakfast, you will be driven to Nanyuki Airport for your flight to the Maasai Mara, where your Kichwa Tembo Camp guide will meet you. Game drive as you head to andBeyond Kichwa Tembo camp for some rest and an exclusive game drive later in the afternoon. &Beyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp is situated in the Kichwa Tembo private concession, which neighbours the Masai Mara. Meaning ‘head of the elephant’ in KiSwahili, Kichwa Tembo consists of private land leased from Maasai landlords and is situated in the remote western Mara. In addition to its excellent year-round concentration of wildlife, Kichwa Tembo lies directly in the path of Africa’s spectacular Great Migration.

Day 5 & 6: Huge Concentration of Wildlife and Visit the Maasai village

Blessed with an astounding year-round concentration of animals and the site of the Great Wildebeest Migration, Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve provides an unsurpassed wildlife experience. Covering an area of 1 510 km² (583 square miles), the Masai Mara is a land of breath-taking vistas, abundant wildlife and endless landscapes.

With abundant elephants, buffalo, giraffes, lions and cheetahs alongside the migratory wildebeest and zebra, the reserve is a photographer’s and naturalist’s paradise. Leopards are frequently encountered, endangered black rhinos find shelter in dense thickets and rafts of hippos and enormous crocodiles are found in the Mara River. The reserve is also home to over 450 bird species.

There are plenty of ways to explore Mara, and one of the options we have included here is gliding over the Masai Mara on a hot-air balloon ride. Rise early to catch the sunrise over the savannah and explore wildlife that is usually active in the early morning hours.

During mid-day, you shall visit a Maasai village to get a glimpse of their culture and heritage. Learn their ways including hunting using spears and bows and arrows, learn how to make fire, indulge in their dance and you can perhaps join them for a meal.

Lunch will always be a picnic lunch with your guide setting up the perfect spot inside the Maasai Mara. Sundowners are also great, a great spot for some afternoon tea and snacks as you watch Savannah's sunset.

A bonfire will always be available at the lodge to wind down a spectacular safari in the wilderness of Mara and share stories with other guests and locals.

Day 7: Flying to the idyllic beach of Diani

After another morning game drive you might visit the rhino sanctuary on the way to the airstrip and once again admire the hippos and the crocodiles of the Mara River. The flight to Diani’s Ukunda leaves the Mara at 2:00 PM and arrives in Ukunda at 4:00 PM. A Saruni vehicle will be waiting to transfer you to Afro Chic Beach Resort.  Arrive at the pristine white-sand shores of the Indian Ocean, welcomed by the warm sea breeze just in time for a sunset cocktail. Enjoy a delicious seafood spread before turning in for the night to your elegant and spacious, air-conditioned room. (Accommodation is on a full board basis including drinks only – Additional activities are payable directly)

Day 8 & 11: Romantic Beach time at Diani

Wake up each morning to the sound of gentle waves and the slight breeze swaying palm trees. Enjoy early walks on the beach followed by relaxing mornings of beauty and health treatments at the spa. Start the days off with a sun-salutation yoga class, followed by a tropical breakfast, a morning massage and a dip in the warm Indian Ocean. Spend the afternoons snorkelling and diving the beautiful coral reefs and exploring the nearby coastline. Head out on the clear ocean on a traditional dhow to visit Wasini Island and Kisite Marine Park for a day of diving, snorkelling, swimming with dolphins, discovering rare turtles and sailing. Unwind in your beautiful villa, on the beach or in the Sarunity SPA. Explore the local fishing village and get to know the people and the culture of this small, undiscovered paradise. Indulge in delicious fresh seafood dinners.

Day 12: End of our Kenya Romantic Safari

Wake up to the sound of gentle waves and the slight breeze swaying palm trees one last time. Relax and rejuvenate for the morning, before departing in the afternoon for your flight back to Nairobi, which leaves Diani at 4:00 PM and arrives at Wilson Airport at 5:30 PM. Transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with Saruni driver and vehicle. Depending on the time of your international flight, stop at the Talisman or Carnivore restaurant for dinner.
